The WWE is the pretty girl in high school and John Cena’s her boobs. She keeps wearing low cut shirts, teasing a wardrobe malfunction, but it never happens. In order to keep your interest she ups the ante by inviting you to the locker room. You think it’s finally going to happen, she’s going to let the puppies loose, but just as she’s about to unfasten that bra, she pulls away and says—“maybe next month”. The WWE is c—k Teasing you Cena Haters and just like that dork in high school, you keep getting worked up over it. Year after Year you ask yourself “Is it finally going to happen”. No!!!
John Cena is not going to turn heel. Kane, Nexus, The Rock, they all served one purpose—to strengthen the Cena brand which in turns strengthens the WWE brand. Forget about wrestling storylines for a moment and think about WWE as a company. They sell house show tickets to more families with kids under 10 than they do 18-24 year olds. Look in the crowd, not the first two rows reserved for die hard marks who pay extra to take home a chair, look at the rows behind that and the nose bleeds. Little kids and their parents are the core audience of the WWE. Why would a 40 year old mother let her daughter go see guys hit each other? Good Vs Evil has to be clearly defined. The younger the fan the longer WWE has to exploit them before they out grow it. The same way the NFL shoved camera’s into the faces of young NFL fans who had Tebow jerseys on to prove that NFL is for everyone, the WWE shoves camera’s in the face of young Cena fans to say, “come out to the show, this isn’t the beer drinking crowd that you grew up on, this is like the circus”. It’s not about being cool it’s about safe. John Cena is safe, he’s inspirational, he stands for American values. He’s like the WWE’s version of a Conservative Republican while CM Punk represents a Liberal Democrat. Wrestling fans need to open their eyes and step out of their box, this world isn’t filled with “cool” people who hate authority and cheer anti-heroes. The Teenagers love the rebels with attitude, but the little kids don’t get to decide, their parents do, and they want nice role models so their kids won’t grow up criminals. If John Cena would turn his back on the fans those same parents who order PPV’s and log onto Ticketmaster to get their children tickets will stop.
Hulk Hogan’s turn was effective because the 80’s Hulkster had become a joke, a cartoon character from childhood who people only cared about for nostalgia purpose. Furthermore when Hulk Hogan turned there was no tease. C’mon people this is wrestling! You’ve seen it all before, when was the last time someone teased a heel turn then actually turned? TNA does crap like that on a monthly basis and it gets no reaction. If Cena were to turn at The Rumble or Mania would it really be that effective? It’s become cool to boo Cena, but once “the company” tells you to boo Cena that hate loses it’s heat.
“If Cena Wins We Riot”???? Really? If Cena Wins this is what you’ll do—Tune in again on Monday. You Hate Cena Because You Secretly Love Him. It’s okay. I use to hate HBK during the “Jose Lothario”(google him) era because I wanted the cool heel HBK back. Most of you would cream your pants at the return of “Basic Thuganomics” Cena, but it’s not happening… yet. John Cena will eventually go to the dark side, it won’t be because the Rock is cheered more in Miami, it won’t be because Kane promised him one night inside Katie Vick, and it won’t because the “vocal males” in the audience says he can’t wrestle. Cena will turn at a moment that makes absolutely no sense, but perfect sense for business, and that’s the problem WWE creative has to deal with. They can’t throw a Cena turn together for a short term pop (remember Stone Cold as WCW leader), it has to be organic. If fans want a cool heel turn, then look no further than John Laurinaitis joining up with CM Punk. Evil Sellout CM Punk is where the money is.
